Why WhatsApp broadcast lists are not the same as bulk messaging

It all started with a broadcast list.
You created one afternoon, added the contacts you had saved, and sent your message. Easy, fast, no complications. You expected responses. Few came — or none at all.
It’s not a coincidence.
What WhatsApp doesn’t tell you
When you send via broadcast, each contact receives the message with a visible label: “Via broadcast list”. For those who see it — and many do — it says exactly what you wanted to hide: that this message wasn’t written for them.
There’s another limitation that hurts more: broadcasts only reach people who have your number saved in their contacts. If your contact hasn’t saved you, your message disappears. No notification, no error, no trace. It simply doesn’t arrive.
The real problem is personalization
A message that says “Hi [name], we have a special offer for you” is not personalization. It’s the same text with a variable. Customers notice — and they notice it in how they respond, or in how they don’t respond.
The difference between a message that converts and one that gets ignored is not the channel. It’s whether the person feels you’re speaking directly to them.
How Sendify solves it
Sendify sends each message individually, as if you had written it one by one. No broadcast list label. No contact book restriction. The message arrives as a normal conversation, because technically it is one.
But it also allows genuine personalization: name, city, purchase history — any data you have about your contact can be part of the message. Not as a generic field — as a natural part of the text.
It’s not just cosmetic
Response rates change when messages feel personal. A customer who feels you’re speaking directly to them is more likely to respond, ask questions, buy.
WhatsApp broadcast lists were designed for simple updates: reminders, schedule notifications, status updates. Not for selling. Not for building relationships.
If what you’re looking for is for your message to generate a real conversation, broadcasts are not your tool.
